Licensing Requirements

*In order to fulfill licensing requirements of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury we are designing a full schedule of educational exchanges that will result in meaningful interactions between the travelers and Cuban individuals, through formal and informal encounters with local community leaders, experts in Cuban life and Cubans citizens.

*The schedule of activities, meetings and interactions with Cubans is subject to change to better facilitate meaningful educational exchanges. Educational visits may be interchanged with similar activities due to unforeseen circumstances and schedule changes.

*OFAC Record Keeping Requirements: Each passenger is required to keep a general written record of each day's activities in Cuba including various sites visited and transactions or activities engaged in. Such records shall be kept and retained by passenger to be made available for examination upon demand (by OFAC) for at least five (5) years from the date of each transaction.

*Each traveler will receive a letter from us on our letterhead that authorizes travel under our license (#CT-). You must have this letter with you at all times and it is advisable to keep a copy in a separate piece of luggage and at home with your emergency contact. You will need this letter to travel to and from the United States and it may be requested by authorities while in Cuba.

Flights to Cuba: Our People to People Educational Exchange

Our flights to Cuba depart from either Miami International airport or New York’s JFK. (Other authorized airports in the US have been added).  All legally licensed flights to Cuba from US ports are on American operated chartered planes. Schedules may vary with time and will be reconfirmed 1-2 months prior to departure. Some charter companies may require additional payment for luggage at the airport. In order to comply with Homeland Security and Cuba visa requirements, each traveler must fill out a full set of application form when making a reservation with name, date of birth, gender and mother’s maiden name. Your airline ticket and visa must match the name on your valid passport to be shown at the airport.

Please note that a departure tax of 25 Cuban Pesos (CUC), approximately 30 USD, must be paid in cash prior to boarding your return flight to the U.S. If you are returning from Cuba, you will need to allow 3 hours between arrival in Miami and departure for your homeward flight in order to clear immigration and customs. Further   screening may be required and other unpredictable delays may affect your flight to your final destination.

Luggage

Due to charter airline restrictions on your round trip flight to Cuba, you are limited to one carry-on (less than 15 lbs) and one checked bag. A maximum of 44 pounds in combined weight is allowed. The charter airline fee for outbound flights from Miami for the first checked bag varies and must be paid in cash upon check-in at Miami airport. Anything over 44 pounds will be subject to excess baggage fees of $1or $2 USD per pound. There is an extra fee for a  second checked bag. Please remember to label your luggage and important items with your name, home address and telephone number. We recommend labeling your luggage both outside and inside the bag. Please attach only the plastic luggage tag included in this mailing to your checked luggage before checking in for your flight. Your paper luggage tag is to be attached at the first hotel. We cannot assume liability or accept claims for loss or damage to luggage and personal effects due to breakage, theft or normal wear and tear that results from hotel, airline or group carrier handling.

Health Issues

*Please consult The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the most up-to-date information on current inoculation requirements. This information can be accessed via the international travelers' hotline (404) 332 4559 or via the CDC website at http://www.cdc.gov/travel/vaccinat.htm. Consult your physician for further information on recommended vaccines.

*While in Cuba every traveler is insured by the Cuban government sponsored health insurance ASSISTUR.

*You may choose to purchase cancellation insurance to cover trip  interruption or cancellation.
